The modem side of the business is dragging them down in the short term. (short is a relative term!)

Ah yes, the modem business. You know I'd be real worried if 56k analog was the end of modem technology as we know it. Fortunately DSL and Cable are starting to see some light, I know it's pretty dim at the moment but things will light up. I'm planning on changing my ISDN line over to DSL soon but the $400 or so US Worst wants to get DSL installed (including DSL modem, and NIC) is not leaving me with a good feeling. I wish the damn cable guys would ramp up, I'd love to be cruising at warp 9 with a 3Com cable modem! The future for COMS in these technologies looks good IMO but obviously DSL and cable are going to have to be aggressively priced before masses sign up.

DSL has been announced in my area this week but I still see no delivery. Unfortunately US Worst is not using any 3Com modems but they are using 3Com NIC's :-)
