Arbitrators Award General Scanning $1.9 Million In Case With Voxel

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. -(Dow Jones)- Voxel said late Friday arbitrators awarded laser systems maker General Scanning Inc. $1.9 million in a contract dispute with the company.

Voxel, a developer of digital holography systems, said the decision "complicates and compromises the company's ability to sustain ongoing activities," and it is exploring a variety of strategic options. The announcement was made after the close of the stock market.

Voxel said in 1994 it entered into a contract with General Scanning, under which General Scanning was contracted to engineer and manufacture the Voxcam imager. Voxel claims General Scanning (GSCN) breached its obligations under that contract.

Voxel's (VOXL) Nasdaq-listed stock ended up 62.5 cents, or 15%, at $4.938 a share, on volume of about 35,000 shares. The average daily volume is about 30,000 shares.
