Thanks for your post. Let me try to address your comment:<< Also, I can't ever quite figure out characters like you. Most are on these threads to discuss, learn, inform, hope, dream, and yes, even hype the stocks they own. This is natural, not insidious>>
I can only talk for myself you will have to ask Don Lickman for his own answer. I believe that the majority of the readers on Silicon are small, unsophisticated investors. They are here to get information about the stocks they own and the market in general. Sometimes they will make lame attempts at promoting the stocks they own out of desperation or just because they think they can make them go up. Most of the information posted here clearly demonstrate the lack of sophistication of the players. I don't have a serious problem with this as long as the information posted is not misleading.
Where my real problem start is when promoters, real ones and guys improvising themselves as promoters, start hyping stocks and sucking in the small guys. I have a problem with insider information and misleading statements. I have no stock positions, long or short, in any of the stocks I have written about. I am just an investor who has been around and has seen a lot in his career. WHAT IS WRONG WITH POINTING OUT TO INVESTORS STOCKS THAT ARE BEING HYPED UP OR OVERVALUED? Investors will do whatever they want. Sure I have ruined a few "let's all feel good about our investment and let's try to make it go higher " parties. But in the long run it could avoid disasters for a few guys. I warned investors on the GPW thread that the stock was overvalued at $8.00. Yesterday there were no bid to speak of at $6.00. Did I do a disfavour to anybody?
As far as Nortran is concerned I am telling you that Abella is getting paid to hype up the company here. Sure, you guys are making money now, but when does he call it a sell? He may involuntarily suck in guys in the future at unsustainable valuations. That would be a problem. Buyers beware.
Sure money can be made on promotions. But the problem is that the promoters will usually try to keep the promotion going pass real values. That is a problem. I wonder how the information about the Hoffmann deal ended up on this thread a week before the company announced the deal. |
