Thanks Robert for putting the http in.

jfred tells me:

South Korea's LG Information and Commun. signed a memorandum of
understanding with a Chinese firm to produce code division multiple access telecom equipment from 1997.

LG Info. was also shortlisted as one of six candidates to supply PTIC with CDMA equipment. The other candidates are Motorola, Qualcomm, Lucent Tech, Northern Telecom and Samsung Electronics.

So it looks as though there is quite a bit of competition in the CDMA industry ready to go. That should give confidence to buyers and start pushing prices down. Maybe not yet. But as more crowd in, it won't be long before prices make CDMA even more attractive.
