Another Jaz bites the dust

This email just showed up in the Roland mailing list that I subscribe to. The following text is re-printed in its entirety.

In a message dated 98-05-08 23:59:08 EDT, you write:

<< + Anthony....I bought the exact same cables from RS except they're 2 metre [6ft]. Never lost a bit/byte. Perfect recovery everytime. >>

...But they'll fail sooner than mine. And usually it's at a very inconvenient time.

Everyone sounds like I used to about the Jaz drive. I'd read lots of negative opinions, but I couldn't be pursuaded--mine had always worked perfectly. I defended and defended my choice of backup, telling people they were brainwashed for 18 months...

...until my Jaz did fail and ate 9 of the 11 songs from my brother's almost completed CD project. I then entered about a month's worth of terror, shipping the disk around to various computer experts who couldn't help me. Finally MegaChew saved my ass.

Better safe than sorry.

Welcome back, wiz. Hope you're well.
