Chartered still busy:

CHARTERED RECRUITS MOTO VET
Singapore's Chartered Semiconductor, which figures the chip industry is now in the midst of a paradigm shift, is going all out to expand its customer base in Europe and the U.S. To get on board, it has recruited Motorola Semiconductor exec Barry Waite as CEO, David Lammers reports in EE Times.
Major chip makers are refocusing their organizations around systems, which will mean they will be releasing more of their manufacturing to production specialists like Chartered, he said. Chartered is busy now building joint-venture fabs with Hewlett-Packard and Lucent Technologies. Waite, 49, was a 16-year Moto veteran.
