George,

From reading all of your posts, it seems you are a really nice but misguided person.

It seems those close to you used you for their own gain. If they hadn't, you probably could have turned your $3,000 into $10,000 and be living off of the interest like you had originally planned. (I hope that you live a simple life though.)

Have you found a new girl friend yet? I sure hope so. The really good ones will try to help you with your drinking problem. Not that drinking is really all that bad, I will tip one every now and then myself.

I was wondering about your job, too. Are you still delivering swatches? It didn't seem like all that bad a job to me. It must have at least let you stop by the Schwab office in your spare time. That's better than hanging around the office and trying to get in touch with a broker that didn't want you to call him.

Did you ever get your dog his new rug? I was wondering why you wouldn't make him one out of spare swatches and save the money for investing.

Just a couple of thoughts George.

1. Never buy stock over the phone from someone you don't know in a company you have never heard of.

2. Buy mutual funds if you don't have the time or interest to do your own research. (An index fund like Vanguard Index 500 is a good bet)

3. Don't consider what you read in a stock "chat thread" or message thread to be research. People are not all as nice as we are. <ggg>
Some of them will tell you what they think you want you to hear instead of what you need to know.

4. Never lie to God.
