Kachina,
I started investing two years ago. I jumped at CSGI and VJET. Both crashed and burned. Then someone on SI turned me onto GIFS. It was a scam. Then I decided to follow, just once, Andrew's advice, and bought BYDS. I picked one of his very few mistakes. I invested in my own company and watched the stock go from 11 to 4. I sold.
That was my strategy for my IRA. Cut the sucker in half.
Sometime in there I learned (not enough) about options, and started trading them in a different cash account. Virtually every option I purchased expired with no value. I lost money hand over fist, but I was learning! Then I hit on a number of tech stock calls, and tripled my account. Instead of paying off my car, student loans, and third floor mater bedroom, I reinvested everything in the same stocks. The crash occurred and I lost all of my money.
I just wanted you to know, you're not alone.
The good news is that Big Brother learned Big Lessons. I started the new year with a sound strategy in place. My IRA is back up to 80% of original, and I've nearly made everything back in my cash account. The IRA has been been riding DELL, by the way. The only impulsive thing I've done is buy ENMD puts...and that paid off my car, finally.
I, too, have come a long way, and now I sit on my butt and watch stocks all day. So, welcome to Stock Sway and SI. Beware of spam.
