Gee, I am getting sleepy, and maybe am not understanding you completely. Are you asking what rule of the universe makes wife beating unacceptable, if I am saying it is not God? Man is definitely not my standard, or, in other words, there is no man who made up this rule of conduct. It is just the right way for us to all treat each other, something I know in my heart!!
There is a common misconception some very religious people have that others who are not religious in the common sense of the concept do not believe in the existence of evil in the world. I guess the first thing I want to be clear on is that I do believe there is evil in the world, but that it comes from children who are damaged in some way acting out the way they were treated in endless cycles of abuse, and is not created by Satan or some other commonly known evil force.
If you are talking about a body of knowledge that is the basis of this belief, it is based on commonly accepted notions of healthy child development. It also represents my opinion, to the extent that I believe, like most sociologists do, that people who commit crimes come from a very clear constellation of children who were neglected, abused, or hurt in some very serious way when they were little, and not given enough love or attention.
This is an interesting discussion, and I would be happy to continue it, but I think I should go to bed now, before I stop making any sense at all. Please rephrase the question if I have not answered it, as I am fairly certain I did not!! |
