NW and Jack -
I had felt the same way last fall - I had sold my Dell position in the 90s thinking it couldn't hold those levels, and it consolidated and moved up again. I bit the bullet in December and moved some CPQ (about 15% of my CPQ position) and some other holdings into Dell at 108, many told me it was a foolish move and I was buying at the peak, etc. etc.
Well needless to say that was the best move I have made in many a year and the value of that investment has nearly doubled in less than 6 months. There is nothing holding Dell in the air except investor confidence and momentum, but who cares?
I believe that CPQ will out-perform Dell in 2nd half of 98 and probably in 99, but my plan is to hold both. These two stocks now make up a major part of my portfolio, but not because I bought that heavily - just because they have outperformed everything else by such a wide margin that they 'grew' to dominance.
