I'm not sure exactly where the disagreement, if any, exists in this ongoing discussion of wife-beating.

Here's my opinion:

Wife-beating(along with child-beating)is the premiere manifestation of ignorance in the world. It is the bully(the man) who uses his only weapon(physical strength) to demonstrate power over his wife.

Only ignorant men ever act in this way towards the person they are suppose to love & respect. A wife beater has emotional problems. He needs professional help. Only a woman with her own emotional problems will tolerate such treatment from her husband or any man.

We all have the responsibility of reporting to law-enforcement officials any domestic disturbance in our neighborhood that might involve physical violence.

A woman who tolerates physical abuse from any man has no respect for herself. He's not worth her time. She should leave immediately. If she has children and she feels she cannot survive financially without him(that's usually the reason), there are many safe havens for her in America. If you or a friend or neighbor is being beaten, find out where one of these safe havens is located and pass the information along to the poor woman.

Education is the only thing that will someday finally irradicate this type of ignorance from the earth.
