The number one source for news for daytraders is the free IRC channel #DAYTRADERS.

Granted probably 500 people on that channel, do have CNBC on. <gggg>

An interesting debate is possible here, not so much about particular news sources, but pertaining to what information is truly relevant to a daytrader, and to a trader that may be still relatively inexperienced.

One can trade successfully with only the smallest amount of input outside of what is afforded by a typical S&P Comstock or PC Quote Data feed with RealTick III software.
The extra stuff is all on the Internet and its all relatively commercial free, subject to change, and highly customizable.

What particular elements of the financial news, during the trading day, do you find relevant to your trading?

Can you offhand recall a specific piece of news from the tv that helped you make some good loot? I'd be interested to hear an example. Maybe I'll have to capitulate.
