Shane and David: Applied Materials shutdowns have been known in the analyst community for weeks. Layoffs have been rumored as long. This is not really news, although a temporary impact on stocks is possible. WJ has a product line too dependent on DRAM and not well positioned for advanced technology - following their take on the market is not really mainstream. Be careful. People have been losing money in DRAM for a while now. No new news. 256 mb DRAM??? May be significant in 2003. Who cares? We are at 16 mb today, and were at 4 mb in 1994. Now getting ready for 0.18 technology - that's another subject. Z
