I am not an IRA expert, but I don't believe a joint account is allowed, the I in IRA stands for Individual. A spouse is generally designated the primary beneficiary. You can establish an IRA for each of you and be the primary beneficiary on each others IRA. Hope this is accurate and answers your inquiry, but to be certain you could probably call a professional to get the answer.
