If you like Novartis and the Life Sciences sector, you should check out Monsanto, too. I have positions in both, so to some extent, it doesn't matter to me who gets DeKalb. Monsanto's pipeline is stuffed and they will have a blockbuster (COX-2 drug named Celebra) Arthritis drug coming out in 1999 (in Phase III and looking very good indeed).
