I would love to know how you came up with this theory. In what way has the Internet grown due to anything MS did wrong?

Last but not least: if Microsoft does not derive an unfair competitive advantage from their de-facto desktop OS monopoly, a breakup of the company should not hurt, and may even enhance, the shareholders value

I agree. A broken-apart MS will be worth much more to shareholders (and Gates).
