These are my observations from the shareholder's meeting.

1) CUBE has a number of consumer DVD wins with Japanese companies, preparing products for a Christmas release. Most of these relationships are confidential, and haven't yet been announced.

2) CUBE is working on a new set top box chip which has 120 levels of blending vs. their current chip which has 12.

3) CUBE is working closely with MSFT to help develop the video drivers in Win '98.

4) Alex went out of his way to mention the importance of MSFT 3 times, yet he didn't mention INTC once. I got the impression there might be further partnerships with MSFT in the future.

5) Alex spoke about their single chip codec in terms of breakthrough technology.

6) Talking to the employees I got the impression there is healthy competition between C-Cube and Divicom employees.Divi has been kept very separate to the frustration of Cube employees and the delight of Divi employees. Divi right now is getting all the praise, and you can tell that the Cube people want the spotlight back.

7) CUBE engineers seem to pride themselves on their hard work. There are stories of cigar smoking rituals that end up with all night work sessions.

8) Super VCD seems to have been renamed CVD (China Video Disk) The guy I spoke to said the Chinese don't upgrade, so they are not expecting the installed base to replace their VCD units with CVD units, but market growth in China should be strong for years. 40+ million in 2 to 3 years. They expect to maintain greater than 60% market share in Chinese VCD in '98.
