I would agree with your logic. One would think they would be able to produce a product by mid-year.

I feel the AMTX/NEC has a good chance of producing the best technical solution, on the other hand, politically I hope they have the needed guns to win the standard. A number of vendors supporting CAP, QAM, 2QB1, DWMT will try their best. I get the feeling that the CAP side didn't put much effort into that 1993 ADSL Bell Core testing. This round for VDSL should be a battle.
