MOST RUMORS are spread by either momentum players ( who want to pump and dump ), and occationaly by shorts ( who when the rumor proves to be false expect the price to drop ). On the IOM board for example, there used to be virtually a rumor prior to every earnings report, and generally whenever the stock was starting to rise. Needless to say, none ever happened. In sum, it has been my experience that most RUMORS, are initiated by those that chose to MANIPULATE the stock for their own benefit.
