SkyStream seems to make complimentary technology to Divicom's. The focus is on Networks. Since they supply EchoStar, Divicom needs to work with them on headend build-outs. They are a small company, C-Cube could afford them. Divicom becomes a one-stop-shop for your Broadcasting needs? Nah! But closer.

Start -Up SkyStream Bets On Data-Broadcasting Market
(04/09/98; 5:55 p.m. ET)
By Junko Yoshida, EE Times

Betting big on the emerging market for data broadcasting, start-up SkyStream formally introduced itself at the National Association of Broadcasters conference this week and rolled out a clutch of products that let broadcasters inject data into the MPEG-based digital-video broadcast infrastructure.
The Mountain View, Calif., start-up also announced a strategic partnership with Wilsonville, Ore.-based Tektronix (company profile), under which the companies will develop products for "digital audio, video, and data uplink and head-end applications," according to SkyStream.

Backed by a team of engineers with expertise in both digital-video broadcasting and data networking, SkyStream's mission is to "bring standards-based, MPEG/IP networking equipment to a broadcast market," said James Olson, CEO.
