Corporation Announce New Manufacturing and Marketing Venture

COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Superconductive Components, Inc. (OTC BULLETIN BOARD: SCCI - news) today announced that it has entered into a new manufacturing and marketing venture with Nanophase Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: NANX - news) of Burr Ridge, Il.

Under this new arrangement, Superconductive Components, Inc. (SCI) will manufacture net-shaped electronic and structural ceramics based on Nanophase's proprietary powder manufacturing processes. These net-shaped parts are expected to have substantially improved wear resistance, hardness and other performance features. In the new marketing arrangement, SCI will produce and market sputtering targets based on Nanophases's nanocrystalline particles for optical and electronic applications. This new generation of sputtering targets are expected to enable SCI's customers to increase production through put and device performance.

''Access to the proprietary nanocrystalline products of Nanophase will enable SCI to exploit a new niche in high performance sputtering targets,'' stated company President Dr. Edward R. Funk, ''We expect that customers will welcome these new products because of the ultimate reductions in processing time and increases in product performance which will results from using our materials.'' The unique grain structure of these new targets may also help solve several process problems which are inherent in the ceramic coating process and in structural ceramics.

Superconductive Components, Inc., head quartered in Columbus, Ohio, manufactures ceramic superconductors for wire, electronic devices, such as cellular base stations, and frictionless bearing systems for energy storage and other rotating machinery. The company sells it product in the US and over 40 foreign countries.
