I am not sure why you would find it more improbable for a physicist to do something sort of irrational out of grief for a wife he was very much in love with and who died very, very young than it would be for someone who was NOT a physicist to do something like that.

Scientists may be scientists FIRST, but are certainly people with the full range of human emotions, as well.

Feynman played the bongo drums, frequented strip clubs, generally liked to have a great deal of fun at everything he did, and even conducted an experiment to see if he could pee while doing a headstand!!!
