Today's announcement was brilliant.

If this proposed merger is diverted by the courts, regulators or legislators; SBC comes out looking like a victim. This promotes the desired jewel, long distance. Turn on the revenue faucet with LD. Turn down the cost faucet with LEC mergers. Grand Slam or grand slam.

Creating lower short-term financial expectaions is "strategic" - then exceed the streets expectations quarter after quarter. From the Bill Gates Business School.

SBC <$40/share is a freak-of-nature opportunity to get in on a telecom guerilla. Sell the chimps, buy the guerillas.
