Sorry for the ambush. My explanation was the one of the straddle. The figures are correct if you find that kind of volatility.

The merit of a stock is subjective and can only be proved with time. If it achieves the financial objective it matters little who likes it or why.

Many institutional houses do NOT register stock they sell as short if it is. It's a story as old as the market itself. You and I would normally have to register our shorts and put up 50%. But illegal shorts do exist in droves. Ask around of more experienced players. Look into the financing agreements of underwriters and watch what they do. They have to balance their books but there are tricks to that. Once in a while they get caught out and lose money by the bucket. How would that happen if they were covered?
