Thank you for supplying this explanation for the clueless here on this thread. Rhapsody dead? Yeah, right, that's what Apple said. Gimme a break! It's the basis for Mac OS X, in that its strengths are being folded into it as the Mac OS X underpinnings. What we'll get is an even more robust OS that is substantially easier for developers to port to. Apple seems to be listening to developers again, and this is good news.
While it's unfortunate Jobs didn't explain himself clearly enough for the naysayers on this thread to understand, you've summed it up nicely. Looks like the market for AAPL doesn't know how to react either.
As for the "polite" applause comment, these are developers we're talking about here! They are, by nature (and with good reason) skeptical of Apple's plans. How many times have they been screwed in the past by developing for Apple technologies that never go anywhere? Open Doc, QuickDraw GX, PowerTalk, Bedrock, etc. |
