NEWARK, Calif, May 7 (Reuters) - Ross Stores Inc. said its
sales totalled $162 million for the four weeks ended May 2,
1998, a 14 percent increase from the $142 million in sales for
the four weeks ended May 30, 1997.
Same-store sales for the month of April increased 8 percent
versus a 10 percent increase in the prior year.
First quarter sales for the 13 weeks ended May 2, 1998
totaled $484 million, a 9 percent increase above the $443
million in sales for the 13 weeks ended May 3, 1997.
Comparable store sales for the first quarter rose four
percent versus an 11 percent gain in the prior year.
