From what I understand, CNBC is even playing on the floor of the exchanges. This explains why when news breaks on CNBC the market can react in a noticable way.

If the floor trader's are watching it, and I day trade which makes me their competitor, then I would watch this news channel too. This does not mean I would be making plays on the news items that come out. But to me this is common sense. But then I do think differently than many people do.
