All, Today I read an article in an official Chinese newspaper (on P. 2 of People's Daily Overseas Edition May 9th), which was to mark the one millionth PC manu. by the Legend Group (the largest domestic PC maker in China). This celebrated PC was given as a gift to Andy Grove of INTEL last week during his visit in Beijing. There are some interesting statistics' in the article. The current annual PC units (sales) in China is about 3 million (6th in world). By the end of this year, China may rank 4th, surpassing Britain and France. According to the current rate, the annual PC units in China will catch up Japan (the 2nd in the world) in 3 years. At present, China has 10 million PCs. 60% of the market share belongs to domestic manuf., of which Legend is No. 1. Think about the potential implications for DELL few years down the road.
