"No one would accuse Bill Gates of reckless accounting practises - yet he has been a very liberal user of options to grow his company. Microsoft allocates more than twice the percent of options than Intel, yet its P/E is twice Intel's."

Can't argue with facts. Stock option plans are not the sole driver of low P/E. Must be that investors value MSFT's growth so much as to counter balance the diluting effects of its option plan. Also, maybe they value the fact that MSFT doesn't have the additional cash drain of acquiring very expensive plants and equipments.

"Indeed if this model is flawed, than much of this bull market is flawed - if that is the argument you want to make - and that is not Intel specific."

Agree! I think this bull market is in great danger. I don't remember if this link has been posted; its title is "America's bubble economy" and is from last issue of "The Economist". They have further comments on the same subject in the current issue. Frightening.
