Gadzoox Networks Appoints Storage Industry Leaders to Key Posts

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 1998--Gadzoox Networks, Inc., the industry leader in Gigabit-speed Fibre Channel storage area networking (SAN) products, today announced that storage industry innovator Howey Chin, who is widely credited with introducing the concept of the Fibre Channel hub to the storage industry, has been named chief strategic officer.

Chin has been with Gadzoox since 1994 as vice president of marketing. In a related move, David Tang, who has played a major role in developing the SAN market and is credited with coining the term ''Storage Area Network,'' has been appointed vice president of marketing. Tang has been the company's director of business development since 1996. These organizational changes emphasize Gadzoox' commitment to maintaining technology, product and market leadership in the SAN market.

In the newly created position of chief strategic officer, Chin will focus on defining the strategic direction of Gadzoox. He will work with the company's chief technology officer and co-founder, Dr. Alistair Black, to determine how Fibre Channel technology can best be applied to solve customer problems in the SAN market. With his new role as vice president of marketing, David Tang will be responsible for corporate and product marketing and the continued development of the SAN market.

Chin has been with Gadzoox since its inception in 1994 as vice president of marketing. He has nearly 20 years of systems level
experience with high-speed transport technologies and a strong working knowledge of Fibre Channel specifically. Prior to joining Gadzoox, he served as director of marketing for the Standard Product group at Vitesse Semiconductor where he was directly responsible for developing Vitesse's Fibre Channel product line.

Tang joined Gadzoox Networks in 1996 as director of business development. With over 15 years of experience in the storage
industry, Tang has held various management and executive positions in sales, marketing and business development at Quantum Corporation, Seagate Technology and Conner Peripherals.
