My understanding is that the mere action of changing name/symbol/CUSIP requires any short positions to cover, without the need to call for certs.

Moreover, and I may be dead wrong on this, but I thought the Transfer Agent calls for existing certs and the TA reissues them to individuals/broker accounts.

I say this because I have received new certs before and I never requested them.
