I did not hear the CC, but I think your word of caution is and has been appropriate. The imbedded device problem is apparently real and large. The CD was a source of information , useful only if a company had personnel able to use it. Also since it was a catalog of devices, a company ,might find it did not cover it's devices (add to that the problem that compliant and non-compliant devices may be identically labelled).
There is a software company that produces a $30,000 (do-it-all) Y2K CD for computers etc. Few takers, the stock has fallen 90%. So it may be well that TAVA goes beyond the CD .
What does a customer want? He wants the Y2K problem fixed. That apparently requires on-site help, (from engineers not programmers?) . If the problem leaks over to associated computers, programmers are needed. As I recall TAVA's 1997 Annual report listed about 130 engineers, and did not stress Y2K .
It seems to me that the successful complete Y2K remediation of a plant or group of plants , (with acknowledgement from the plant management) would take this whole situation into the real world.
I find too much hope (and hope without foundation eventually becomes hype)in the TAVA messages. Is there a completed remediation? If not when can we expect one. Allen
