If The Motley Fool has indeed sold the rest of its IOM position, then my prediction has come true. A month or two ago, I predicted that TMF would dump their remaining shares.

If this is indeed the case, it exemplifies neither the best, not the worst decision making they have done. It is not the best, because they could have dumped at $15 or so. But it is not the worst, because even they realize, along with me, that IOM is about to receive yet another drastic haircut as Castlewood and Sony enter the fray. They see $4.80 just like I do.

This storage-commodity niche is becoming crowded. And the behemoths like Sony, Teac, Awia, and Fuji will win. Smaller players like Iomega will go the way of the Commodore 64, the Atari 2600, and the Coleco-Vision.

This is called progress.
