Andy - Re: "I am a little confused(just a little?) about the positioning of the CopperMine device. Will it coexist with Katmai and both be targeted at the desktop market?"

Coppermine was initially targeted at the Mobile - NOTEBOOK - market. It is based on 0.18 micron technology so it will be much lower in power as well as much faster.

Katmai - which is currently a 0.25 micron part - is aimed at the high performance desktop market - with 3D GRAPHICS and KNI (Katmai New Instructions) as its feature set.

Bear in mind - I have recently heard form one source that Coppermine will be based on the Katmai CPU and not the Deschutes CPU. I will update you when I know for sure.

The underlying theme here is that Intel's design and technology efforts are operating at a speed that generates new products faster than the market can absorb them.
