Hi Ian,

**OT**

Tyco International was a company in the mid 1980's not terribly different than it is today. It had, as it still has, a long tradition of growth through a combination of internal growth and acquisitions. It's one of those situations where management just knows how to do things right.

But it's a very different company than Dell. It is a conglomerate in an era when conglomerates are a dirty word. It has never made a hostile acquisition -- much preferring the role of a white knight. There are so many great things to say about this company, but I'll sum it up this way. My goal in growth investing is to hold great growth companies until the underlying growth story is over. With TYC it just doesn't seem to end!

TTFN,
CTC
