I'll be in London for the next couple of weeks, and also over the rest of the year I'll be there off and on. Will see what progress is being made over time.

According to the press release posted by Dan, it will be 4 years before the smart cards are used with this new system? I would not expect it to take so long, maybe they mean that it will be 4 years before the old system is completely obsolete and you HAVE to use the smart card.

Bad news for us CUB shareholders that they have to front the money for the system until it is up and running (no progress payments.) I hope the contract they signed doesn't give the Underground too many hooks to delay or refuse payment since any complex system like this will have bugs (re: Denver International Airport bag handling system.) CUB will get some good references from this job once it's working, and I suspect more European cities will follow suit in the next few years.

By the way, is anyone sure that FRAM cards are being used? Would RCOM have an announcement soon if that's the case?

Hope for the best but prepare for the usual.....
