Besides the attempt at reverse psychology (or whatever they call their marketing method), I have a feeling that the svc. is bare bones, minimal. I don't remember them ranking very high in the period survey of discount brokers published by SmartMoney.
And I'll never forget a story I read about deep discounters in one of the personal finance magazines (SmartMoney? Worth?, I can't remember), in which George Brown was interviewed. Despite the folksy image portrayed in the co.'s ads, he came across as 'What, they don't like the level of svc. their getting here? Well, screw 'em. Go somewhere else.'
That kind of thing tends to color somebody's impression of a co. really quick. I know I'll never be sending any business in that direction.
