Hi Martyn, agree 100%: TA cannot absolutely predict surprises such as well-kept internal co. secrets such as earnings or unleaked press releases, etc. A good example of exactly what you are saying is HWP. I know, I own the stock and have, indeed, been surprised (and TA has failed) because the mgt. is very very strict about confidentiality and quiet periods right before an announcement.

TA is a tool and certainly NOT an end-all. Just like everything else, there indeed are NO gaurantees with TA. It IS, of course IMHO, a set of indicators that measure trends in trader and investor sentiment. It does show oversold and overbought conditions and a whole host of other things. Some work well for one stock and other indicators work well for another stock.

Had a question for you on your post 1189, (I think the # is right).
Where did you get the definitive buy/sell ratio info? How could you really tell this? Not challenging you - just want to learn for my benefit. The reason I ask is because I saw from TA, that this stock has not seen such heavy distribution since at least May 1997 when I started data on this stock. This distribution will have to stop before the price can begin to rise - again JMHO...
