If it wasn't for Microsoft and the economic model of the Microsofts, Intel's and Cisco's of the world, you would still be looking at a green CRT wondering how to get an extra 32K of memory out of you computer Ha! The company that banished the Green Screen was Apple when they released the Macintosh. If it wasn't for Microsoft, I would still be using a Mac. Your assertion that without Microsoft there wouldn't be innovation is contradicted by the fact that Microsoft has produced none of the major innovations of the last 2 decades, and has managed to squash many of the companies that did produce them, possibly preventing major innovations that would have occured.
