The shareholders meeting was in a beautiful building overlooking the East River. Wilf Corrigan spoke and presented very encouraging perspectives. LSI's main business is coming from consumer products and telecommunications. These are on an upswing as well as semi's in general. He said the downcycles usually last from 2 to 2 1/2 years in semi's, and this is just about over. He sees business in America, Europe and even Japan as doing well, and that the main driving force for semi's is becoming the internet and not computers. LSI is well positioned, with LSI doing better the 2nd & 3rd quarters, and even better in '99.

After the meeting we went to the 41st floor for refreshments and got to see some great products. I finally saw the Casio camera. I'm a photography enthusiast, and I was very impressed. A resolution of 4 million pixels and the camera can take 7 frames/sec. The camera is currently only available in Japan and no firm date for when it would be available here was given. They guessed that it would go for about $500 in the US. The minolta camera is not out yet. Wilf said that the next generation DCAM will be capable of 30/sec. which of course would qualify it as a video device. I was also impressed by a PC DVD Card which is also soon to be released by MARGI.

All in all, I can say I feel LSI is a quality company, well positioned to do very well in the market place at this time, and I'm proud to be a shareholder. Wish I had seen Shane and wish I owned more LSI.

All the best,
Michael
