Wisdom from Today's Wall Street Journal

Jeffrey Matthews, portfolio manager at RAM Partners, believes many of
the speculative Internet plays have also not lost all of their gains because
there are still "wishful thinkers" who continue to own the stocks, hoping
"things will catch on fire again."

But Mr. Matthews believes the "speculative feeding frenzy" in the Internet
sector has died down and that "we are now on the downside of the
Internet bubble."

"The fever has broken," he said, adding that "a majority of these stocks
could go back to their lows and beyond in the space of a year or two."

Mr. Matthews added that while many of the big names have slipped in
recent weeks, some of the more obscure names that logged big gains last
month could "be down much more."

"The market seems to be more discerning," he said, "because when the air
goes out of the bubble, the money that stays looks for more legitimate
names."
