At the end of the first quarter, B(ank)ofA(merica) had almost $23 billion of exposure to Asia including over $5 billion to Hong Kong, $3 billion to South Korea, and more than one billion to each Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan. Increasingly, it looks like this lending will prove problematic to BankAmerica as well as the other money center banks with significant exposure.
