Hal, welcome to the thread. I was going to email you a note complimenting you on your courage for holding forth in the, er, other context, but no addr and I couldn't easily figure out the SI private msg thing. One difference you'll notice here is that there's a higher proportion of real names. Another is that a certain participant tends to get a bit combative about ad hominem attacks, and isn't much impressed by the legal heft of the Randian antitust defense.
A note in passing: Gerald Lampton is resident lawyer here; since he's arguing the "objective" interpretation of coercion here, I'd say let's kill him :). He's a smart guy and as Microskeptical as anyone.
One quick note on Netscape's "demise": Check out Jesse Berst's column of yesterday, zdnet.com .
Netscape make more money just from "Netcenter" aka their web site than Yahoo does, but Yahoo's currently worth 3x as much. Of course, MSFT's got designs there too, but they're slipping as usual. More on the subject today, at www5.zdnet.com , not quite as enthusiastic but interesting anyway. Not that I'd argue NSCP will "fly high" again, the air supply thing is still a problem. They got a chance, though.
