Royal Grp, Shell Chemical Form Jt Venture For Bldg

TORONTO -- Royal Group Technologies Inc. (RYG) said it has formed a joint venture with
Shell Chemical Holdings Inc. to develop the market for the Royal Building System in the oil, gas
and chemical industries.

In a press release, Royal Group said the joint-venture company will be called Royal Landmark
Structures LLC and will design, engineer and sell applications of the system, including car
washes, convenience stores, service centers, research facilities and office buildings.

It said the 50/50 joint venture will be based in Houston and will initially focus on business in the
U.S. It said the Royal Building System is a pre-engineered, modular building system which
requires less construction time and reduced maintenance.

Royal Group Technologies is an extruder of vinyl building products.

Shell Chemical is an affiliate of Shell Oil Co., which is owned by Royal Dutch Petroleum Co.
(RD).
