Following Earl Mincer's leads, I've been trying to compare the two types of laser technology used by Ioptics and lasercard systems. I'm a nontechnical person, and I'll abide by his tentative conclusions on that front, but what caught my eye was Ioptics target market--portable computing, embedded systems, and entertainment systems. If this is so, then Ioptics has far more ambitious goals than DRXR. DRXR has limited itself to certain kinds of embedded systems use--within the 4.1 mb capacity of the card, but the lasercard is in production now, and Ioptic's 128 mb OROM card is experimental. Prototypes available mid- 1998, production mid-1999. My apologies if this is already known to you. leso www2.ioptics.com drexlertechnology.com
