Vlad,

So will G say not to use Muse? Looking way back in Vivus thread (I should do this more often) I was amazed to see how, apparently, these scientists can so easily be bought and sold. How can a scientist (not G) coauthor a series of papers arguing for the effectiveness of muse and then give an interview and say it is only 5% effective?

You gave me previously reasons why topical gel unlikely to be too effective, uneven distribution etc - it seems logical but do we really know? Essentially it seems to me that you either rub the alprostadil on the outside of the penis or the inside of the urethra. Macrochem and Nexmed have a magic uptake ingredient which appears essential and does help - it is not clear to me whether Vivus does not have a similar chemical additive in the muse pellet - do you know? I think they cannot since the transurethral and topical doses are similar.

It seems to assumed in the Macrochem/Nexmed publicity and generally that the topical approach is friendlier/easier/less invasive etc etc than the muse approach. Is this really true? From the viewpoint of a woman, what is more discrete than having her partner insert a tiny pellet in the urethra compared with rubbing this cream on the glans or perhaps over the whole penis. Intercourse or oral sex would be impossible without a condom, as you say, and the magic uptake ingredients would facilitate uptake into the vagina or mouth.

It seems Vivus are not fighting and that they cannot retain scientists. Have they given up on R & D and just banking everything on this one product.
