It's my understanding that TRMB is heavily involved with software sales, etc., associated with their hardware. That is the higher margin markets that they have concentrated on.

As to car navigation, I believe Trimble is dominant outside Japan, but Japan is way ahead of the rest of the world. I don't get the sense that TRMB has been giving up market share in the car nav market. To the contrary, I think they are more than holding their own, particularly outside Japan where ultimately the most growth will occur. Car navigation will not boom the stock for a couple of years, though, since the Microsoft alliance won't be OEM'd until the year 2000, and then it will have to ramp up.

You shouldn't let your long term outlook be influenced by month to month stock price fluctuations.
