Mark Dysart Elected to ATS Board of Directors

ALTOONA, Pa., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Honorable Richard Geist, President and CEO of American Track Systems
International, Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: ATSZ - news) has announced the election of Mr. Mark Dysart to the Board of Directors of
ATS in Altoona, PA. ATS is the sole U.S. based public company dedicated to the quality design, engineering and manufacture of
advanced technology trackwork for the freight, passenger, transit, commuter and light rail industry. The company has been public
since late 1996 and trades on the OTC market under the symbol ''ATSZ''.

''We are extremely pleased to welcome Mark Dysart to the ATS Board,'' noted Geist. ''As President and CEO of the international
High Speed Ground Transportation Association (HSGTA), Mark is one of the key global leaders in our industry. He brings to the
Board of ATS a deep experience in rail issues, a strategic insight into our industry and a vision of where we are going both here in
America and worldwide in the 21st Century.''

''I am pleased to accept the position and look forward to working with Rick Geist and the first rate team at ATS,'' remarked Mr.
Dysart. ''I have watched ATS grow, have followed their progress, and along with my wife Nancy, became shareholders in ATS over
a year ago. I was in Altoona for the ribbon cutting at our new headquarters and manufacturing plant in late 1996 and it is great to be
a part of this company's future ... the sky is truly the limit for ATS.''

''With ATS experiencing the growth and development challenges of any newly public company, the quality of our Board, with
leaders like Mark Dysart, will make our transition from a 2+ million dollar a year company to a 50+ million dollar a year company,
easier. We have large growth challenges, but a first rate product, a 10-year history of service to the rail industry as a private
company, a magnificent team of men and women working for us and a very strong shareholder group that is focused and educated
on the rail transportation industry,'' commented John W. Tower, ATS Vice President for Corporate Development/Government Affairs
and Shareholder Relations.

Mr. Dysart has over 25 years in human resources, management and labor relations before assuming his current duties as
President and CEO of the HSGTA. He received his Bachelor Degree in Business with honors from Western Illinois University and a
Masters in Administrative Science from The Johns Hopkins University, majoring in economics and financial management
respectively. He was born and raised in Altoona, PA, now the home of ATS, and his family's involvement with the rail industry goes
back some 3 generations with the Pennsylvania Railroad.
