Stitch,
Thanks so much for reprinting the thoughtful discussion from MS. The part on 4500/5400 RPM is a little depressing to a QNTM holder. Is there any reason why Bigfoot couldn't spin at 5400 with some retooling? Does the larger footprint make it harder or more costly, that you know of?

I still tend to disagree with her on the point about all of the players being stable future participants, although obviously I could easily be wrong. The financial crisis in Asia has to bite into the Asian players in some way. Either Hyundai, Samsung and Fujitsu must make a major capital commitment to their drive divisions, or get out at some point in the next year or two. I can't see how they will keep up otherwise. Are the drive divisions major parts of any of those companies? On the other hand, maybe Finis Conner could scrape together enough venture capital based on his past companies to buy, e.g., Maxtor. That would not be good for SEG, WDC or QNTM. But Tom Mitchell and Jugi Tandon haven't been a raging success with JTS.

Just some thoughts.
Best,
Sam
