Plasma-Therm, Inc. Announces Co-Development Program with University of Wisconsin, Madison for Advanced Data Storage Process Development
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1998-- Plasma-Therm, Inc. (NASDAQ NMS ''PTIS'')announced today an agreement to develop advanced data storage processes with the Engineering Research Center for Plasma-Aided Manufacturing at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. The program, jointly funded by Plasma-Therm and a leading supplier of data storage products, will utilize Plasma-Therm's Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) technology for advanced process technology development.
Dr. Jay Sasserath, the Company's Vice President, Strategic Marketing, stated ''This is a very important program for Plasma-Therm and we are pleased to be associated with the University of Wisconsin. As a leading supplier of etch and deposition equipment to the data storage manufacturing industry, we've demonstrated our ICP product for a number of advanced processes to date. The results from this program will be beneficial in our effort to increase PTI's available product offering to the data storage industry, thus enhancing our position as the leading supplier of High Density Plasma (HDP) equipment to this market.''
